10 reasons why you should support west ham and not man u Tuesday, August 01, 2006

lolz. in defence of my beloved west ham. here are 10 reasons why you should support them and not manUre.

1. Hammers is historically a great team. Especially in the 1960s, where west ham almost single handedly won the world cup for england, Geoff Hurst (scorer of the hat-trick in the finals), Bobby moore (captain of the side), and Martin Peters (scorer of the last goal in the 4-2 win in the finals). Sure, Man U provided bobby charlton, but without Hurst, the only person to score a hat trick in the finals, england would have lost.

2. West ham has great tradition. The Irons are only one of 3 teams to have a club anthem, the others being liverpool and newcastle. While man u have some stupid "glory, glory man united" which is more of a cheer rather than a song. and it has beaten its rivals in the past season 4-2 against arsenal and 2-1 against tottenham.

3. West ham currently holds one of the youngest and best squads around. In Dean Ashton they have "the next alan shearer", and in Reo-coker, the next gerrard, and anton ferdinand, widely regarded to be better than his brother, rio who was the most expensive and overated defender. Anton was also the 4th best English defender in EPL and missed out of the england world cup squad only because Sven's policy of sticking with old established lousy players. Add this three to Benayoun, arguably the best player israel ever produced, and harewood, 2nd top english scorer in Epl last season. And throw in Mark noble, matty Etherington, Tyrone mears, you get one of the best and youngest squads. While manure has just sold their best striker, bought a severely overrated midfielder who can't play, and has a dreamy defender in Rio. Sure, Manure has wayne rooney, but manure spent big bucks on him and his wages, while ashton costs much less and takes much less wages but is as good as him.

4. West ham is a true EPL team. Unlike teams like arse-nal, liverpool, manure and chelski, which are literally league of nations, West ham holds one of the most no. of young england stars. While managers like wenger and benitez complain about the costs of english players, west ham has built a team filled with almost all UK players. Man U only has Rio, Rooney, G. Neville who are good english players now.

5.West ham produces the best players from their youth academies and do not make football ugly by using big bucks to buy players, NRC, Matty, Anton all come from the youth academy unlike manure who poaches other team's good players using obscene amounts of money. Without the west ham academy, England's national team may have a ranking around Singapore. Imagine a England team without Lampard, J. Cole, R. Ferdinand, Carrick, james, all of them a produced by West ham. How many Manu youth players you see now at the top level? richardson was from the irons academy before manu stole him. David Bellion?

6. West Ham provide hope for every underdog. Having qualified for UEFA in their 1st season up, they have made a record, no other team has done that. Man U was like shit when they was promoted. And you can count West ham to enter matches as underdogs, and come out as victors.

7. West ham produced great performances. Look at Yossi and his skills, NRC with his box to box runs, west ham produced great attacking football. And proved so in the Fa cup finals last season when NRC outclassed Gerrard most of the time.

8. Supporting west ham gives you exclusivity. Man U has millions of supporters in Singapore, while West ham has much fewer, thus allowing you to be one of the rare few who support a club different from the norm, yet a club which is superb.

9. Manure is shit. They depend on a player who gets himself red carded for no obvious reasons, Rooney. They have a manager who seems to be losing the plan, spending $18.6m on a player worth at most $10m, We are not playing FM here. lolz. While Pards have been shrewd in the transfer market, buying cheap players with high potential and keeping all the key players in the squad.

10. West ham is a team for the future. With its young squad and energetic attacking football, West ham is a team for the future, i won't be suprise if England won the 2010 world cup with 3players from west ham again, NRC may be the captain then, Ashton may be the Hurst while Harewood may be Peters, with Rooney as Charlton.

And above all reasons, I support west ham, so support west ham too.. support the irons, support Pardew's Claret and Blue army. yeah. lolz. I'm forever blowing bubbles...
